The Jacksonville Jaguars are one of the NFL’s newest franchises, established in 1993 and beginning play in the 1995 season. Based in Jacksonville, Florida, the Jaguars were awarded to the city as part of the league’s expansion into new markets during the 1990s. Despite their relatively short history compared to older franchises, the Jaguars quickly made a name for themselves with competitive play and passionate fans.

Today, the Jaguars play their home games at EverBank Stadium (formerly TIAA Bank Field), located along the St. Johns River in downtown Jacksonville. As members of the AFC South division, the Jaguars sport team colors of teal, black, and gold. Their devoted fan base, known for their energy and unique traditions, has helped give the Jaguars one of the most distinct game-day atmospheres in the NFL.

The Jaguars found early success under head coach Tom Coughlin, making the playoffs four times in their first five seasons, including two AFC Championship Game appearances. In more recent years, the team’s 2017 season stands out, when the Jaguars boasted one of the league’s top defenses—nicknamed “Sacksonville”—and reached the AFC Championship Game, narrowly losing to the New England Patriots.

While still seeking their first Super Bowl appearance, the Jaguars remain a franchise defined by resilience and growth. With a promising young roster and a loyal following, the team continues to build its legacy in Northeast Florida and beyond.
