The Atlanta Falcons are one of the NFL’s younger franchises, founded in 1965 as the league’s 15th team. Based in Atlanta, Georgia, the Falcons quickly became a source of pride for the Southeast, giving the region its first taste of professional football. Over the decades, the franchise has built a reputation for resilience, overcoming ups and downs while carving out its place in league history.

Today, the Falcons play their home games at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, a state-of-the-art facility in downtown Atlanta. Competing in the NFC South division, the team’s colors are black, red, and white, and their fan base—often called the “Dirty Bird Nation”—has become one of the most passionate in football.

The Falcons have produced standout players such as Deion Sanders, Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, and Michael Vick, who left lasting legacies on the game. The team has made multiple playoff appearances and reached the Super Bowl twice: first in the 1998 season (Super Bowl XXXIII) and again in the 2016 season (Super Bowl LI). Though the Falcons fell short in both appearances, their 2016 run—led by MVP quarterback Matt Ryan—remains a defining chapter in franchise history.
